National Transportation Center at UMD Awarded $2.8M from US DOTThe U.S. Department of Transportation (US DOT) Office of the Assistant Secretary for Research and Technology has awarded the National Transportation Center at the University of Maryland (NTC@Maryland) $2.8 million for research, education and outreach activities. In 2013, NTC@Maryland was selected as one of only five national transportation centers in the US DOT University Transportation Centers competition. NTC@Maryland is centered on the US DOT's strategic goal of economic competitiveness. The center has three focus areas: freight efficiency for domestic shipping and for our international land, air, and sea ports; highway congestion mitigation with multi-modal strategies; and smart investments in intercity passenger travel facilities. Each federal dollar invested in NTC@Maryland is matched dollar-for-dollar by state and local funds. This new installment of federal funds has brought the total funding resources to $11.2 million including federal, state, and local contributions. Learn more: http://ntc.umd.edu
